About Wize Tea
Driven by health, inspired by innovation, motivated by impact
When Max went to France for school in 2012, he overdosed on coffee during finals season and was ordered by his doctor to quit coffee and switch to tea. He never loved traditional green and black teas, so he started searching for alternatives that would be delicious, healthy, and ultimately sustainable for his body and the planet.
A month later, he and his French classmate Arnaud were starting a new entrepreneurship class project. That first day of class in January 2013, he came across a study about the coffee leaf that proved its strong health benefits, light caffeine, and long history of use as an herbal infusion in Ethiopia and Indonesia. It also became apparent that coffee farms are very seasonal and farmers suffer from extremely volatile market prices and a long off-season where they are trimming off extra leaves but not using them for anything.
They began to ask themselves “why hasn’t anyone tried to craft or ferment the coffee leaves before, like they do in the traditional tea industry?” They had a hunch that they could create very special flavors and varieties if they applied the same tea-style methodology to the coffee leaf.
Together, the two decided that this idea was worth pursuing for their class project.
Global problems call for global collaboration
At the end of the school year, they decided to put theory into practice and flew to Nicaragua to find some coffee farms. The first farmers didn’t even believe them, asking them why they were interested in the leaf to begin with. “It has no value,” farmers would say. Others were curious, but not enough to get involved.
During their search, they kept meeting other coffee importers and buyers. One of their new connections thought the coffee leaf idea was brilliant, and introduced them to Enrique Ferrufino, a third-generation coffee farmer who leads the country in ethics and innovation.
When they brought the idea to Enrique, his eyes lit up with inspiration as he started brainstorming different ways of cultivating, crafting, and ultimately creating a new delicious drink that has the potential to revolutionize the industry for the better.
One year later, Enrique joined Wize as an equal-equity founder and bolstered the team with decades of coffee-growing experience. This team-focused aspect makes Wize vertically integrated from the ground up, and ensures that the farmers and their workers’ have decision-making power for long-term growth and sustainability.
The Wize ethos
We can all be better and do better if we make wize choices. We’re realists; yes, we have a mountain to climb to solve global problems, but with small incremental action from everyone, we can write the future that we want. The pen is in our hands.
Wize is redefining wisdom for the new generation. Acknowledging the negatives, creating the positives, and relishing the challenge instead of shying away from it. Big things have small beginnings, and this is how we choose to live our lives; with purpose.
Think outside the bean and Wize up. -

About Vanillablossom
Vanillablossom Flavors is a Canadian small business on Vancouver Island, offering premium vanilla products and spices at accessible prices. For owner David Best, vanilla is a family affair. The company was started by Dave's father, Larry Best, who operated the company for 35 years. Dave grew up learning the business from his father, and he still uses his dad's recipe for vanilla extract.
In recent years, Dave expanded Vanillablossom's product line from vanilla products to include a variety of spices and other baking flavours, and he prides himself on dealing directly with suppliers to ensure high-quality products. All vanilla beans are imported directly from a locally-owned and operated farm in Madagascar, and all manufacturing—from making extract to packaging spices—is done at the Vanillablossom shop on Vancouver Island.

About Wychbury Ave
In 2011, I biked over 2000 km on a cycling tour with thirteen other women on The Otesha Project to teach communities about environmental sustainability and social justice. After delivering over 30 performances about how to reduce unnecessary plastics in our everyday life and prevent human rights abuses, I wanted to put those solutions into practice and decided to make my own bath and body products with fair trade and ethically sourced ingredients, using only plastic-free and reusable packaging. In 2014, in the middle of a maternity leave from teaching, I transformed my basement into a soap-making studio and joined a community of like-minded individuals who were starting a farmers market.
Starting with tiny batches of only 7 bars at a time, I made, cut and packaged each batch myself, printing my own labels and learning the ins and outs of business as I went. I found a used bicycle trailer, and started towing my entire market setup back and forth to the Esquimalt Farmers Market each Thursday, began stocking local shops in Victoria with my soaps, and I’m now selling from my online shop at www.wychburyave.com, and at over 12 retailers on Vancouver Island. My dream began as a mission to show others how to enjoy the products we love while reducing waste and caring for people and the planet at the same time. I continue to provide vegan, palm oil-free, and fair trade products through my shop and educate others through workshops and daily insights on social media. Come join me! Let’s plant those seeds and be the change together. -

The Fleur de Sel 76% Dark Chocolate bar is made using cacao ethically sourced from Kablon Farms in the Philippines!
Ingredients
Organic Cocoa Beans, Organic Cane Sugar, Fleur de Sel, Blackberry

The Philippines has a long history of cacao farming; the crop was introduced in the 1700s when a Spanish colonist brought seedlings over to the islands from Mexico. Since then, it’s common practice for Filipino communities to consume cacao as drinking chocolate, similar to Maya communities throughout Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala.
Kablon Farms is a 70 hectare bio-diversified, sustainable farm in South Cotabato, in Davao, Philippines. The farm is owned by the Pantua family and the crop production is managed by the eldest sibling, Ernesto Pantua Jr. (who prefers to be called Jun).
With an uncompromising emphasis on the highest quality of specialty cocoa beans, Kablon Farms is leading a change in the low-cost/low quality norm seen throughout the Philippines. Constantly improving and innovating, the farm runs cocoa farming and fermentation trials to perfect the unique flavour profiles of their cacao offerings.
Kablon is a Wallace Craft Chocolate single origin supplier, with their farm representing the Asia-Pacific region of cacao production.
About Wallace Craft Chocolate

Upon returning to Canada, he maintained his relationship with cocoa producers, and now buys beans directly from these farmers for a good price. Wallace Craft Chocolate has a deep connection to the West Coast, using combining local ingredients with interesting cocoa beans for exquisite and interesting flavour combinations. We strive to uphold the highest standards in transparency, integrity, and sustainability in everything we do.

Bolivia 73% Dark Chocolate - Wallace Craft Chocolate (60g)
This is no supermarket chocolate – imagine how a wild blueberry from the forest explodes with so much more flavour than its farmed kin. We are incredibly privileged to be able to share this truly special and rare chocolate with you.
We are proud to offer our single-origin chocolate as a transparently traded product through our supply partner Uncommon Cacao. This means that you, as a consumer, can verify the prices paid along the supply chain, ensuring cacao farmers, and everyone else, are paid honestly, openly, and fairly.

Itenez Wild Harvest Cacao is from the region near Baures, Bolivia, close to the Reserva Forestal Itenez and the Río Blanco.
These beans are very rare, native Beniano cacao from the wild Itenez forests. They are harvested from wild cacao trees growing naturally in the Itenez forests, gathered and processed by local campesinos. According to Heirloom Cacao Preservation (HCP) genetic tests, the cacao is 97.3% Heirloom Beniano Boliviano with 2.7% Upper Amazon Forastero.
An initiative to support collectors of native, wild cacaos was started by Agricultural Economist and General Manager of Rainforest Exquisite Products S.A. (REPSA) Volker Lehmann, who was responsible for pioneering the wild cacao trade starting in 2004, increasing the quality of the harvest process and ensuring economic gains for all involved.
The Itenez wild harvested Bolivian cacao beans are very small beans with big flavour: Deep, rich, robust and floral. We are thrilled to be able to partner with the communities in Bolivia to offer this unique and special cacao.
Itenez is a Wallace Craft Chocolate single origin supplier, with these beans representing the South American region of cacao production.
